McGuckin Hardware is not just a hardware store; it’s an iconic and beloved Boulder institution! It all began when the company’s namesake, a rugged, avid fisherman named Llewellyn Commodore “Bill” McGuckin, opened the doors of McGuckin Hardware in 1955. Employing four people in four departments, the store’s success was based on Bill’s belief in personalized service, selection, and first-hand experience.
In 1960, Dave Hight became a partner in McGuckin Hardware with his father-in-law, Bill. Together they sought to create a quality hardware store with a reputation for excellent service and selection. Working from this solid base, Dave has carried on McGuckin Hardware’s dedication to service since Bill’s death in 1966.
Staying within a block of its original location in Boulder, McGuckin Hardware has continued to grow. They currently employ around an average of 250 people in 18 different departments ranging from Garden to Housewares to Automotive – just to name a few. The store is 60,000+ square feet of sales floor selling over 200,000 items. With all of the growth, McGuckin Hardware continues to strive to meet Bill’s goals of providing personalized service, selection, and first-hand experience. We are honored that McGuckin Hardware is partnering with our Fix-It, YardBusters and IceBusters program.
